Margaret Summers

Margaret Summers c.24.4.1796 and d.15.11.1866 age 69 was the daughter of  James Summers and Elizabeth Gilmore.

Margaret married Alexander Burns on the 12.10.1823. Their family consisted of eight children but sadly many died young.

1.Isabella Burns b.March 5, 1824 married Andrew Trotter on 23.7.1843 and died Dec 1, 1901,  2.James Burns b.Aug 19, 1825 died Feb 24, 1827, 3.William Burns Sept 8, 1826 died Sept 12, 1854, 4.Robert Burns b.Apr 24, 1829 (Married Janet Cooper??) died Mar 18, 1857, 5.Jane Burns b.July 30, 1833 died Oct 24, 1836, 6.Margaret Burns b.Oct 22 1834 died Oct 12, 1836, 7.Alexander Burns born Dec 10, 1835 died Apr 12, 1836, 8.James Burns was born May 31.1839. He married Jane Ross on the 16.10.1868 and died  Jan 23, 1874.

Alexander served in the Royal Artillery from 1803 to 1818 and written on the back of the set of his papers from serving in the Royal Artillery was listed a history of the family they started together. Through the years and generations of Burns' the notes have been passed down.  Copies of two of these below.

Margaret's death on the 15th of November 1866 age 69 years. Youngest son James listed as present.

Births and deaths in Alexander's handwriting.

Margaret's youngest son James's wedding to Jane Ross on the 16th October 1868.  Witness was Grandson and Isabella's son Alexander Trotter.  Alex Trotter left for New Zealand sometime later.
