The three green certificates (photographed) to the left and the children information above verified  on the Scottish Church records.

A death Certificate for the 6th child of James and Jean (our Minto) reads:

Widow of James Trotter, cattle dealer

                 died 7.30am 9/1/1862

                 2 Havanah Close, Kelso

                 age 85

father: John Williams - farmer - dec ?? Comment Should it be James Whillans)

mother: Catherine Williams  m.s. Phin - dec?? Comment ( She is James Whillan's second wife)(Should it be Jean Riddel)

informant: Alexander Trotter, (Her eldest son of Pathhead)  ( Perhaps he never knew of his mother's family?)

Credit to Frank Whillans for some of the information here. Other documents from old Scottish Church C D Rom

But, a few questions:

What might of happened to Jean Riddel she just seems to have dissappeared?

There is no children to James and Jean between their Marriage in 1763 and 1770.  Perhaps there was but they died,

There is no birth or death records for James Whalens/Whillans or Jean Riddel to be found.  (but now, maybe this one)

If this christening is hers she would have been 22 years old when she married James.
