James Reid Trotter (Jim)

Jim was the ninth child and third son of Alex and Annie.  He was born on 27.8.1897 and married Olive Roke on the 27.8.1921 a year after his father Alex  died.  They had one child (Jim jnr) born just before Jim was tragically killed on 11.11.1924 after being kicked by a horse on the Matakana farm.  Though he was able to call for help and a Doctor he died a short time later.   He was adjusting the tow chains or plowing  equipment behind the horse which was of a normally placid temperament.  (I was told this by Harry Phillips a neighbour).

Sadly, Jim (jnr) passed away on the 15.10.09 age 84 years.
Notice in the N Z herald reads:
 TROTTER 
James Roke (Jim). On October 15, 2009 peacefully at North Shore Hospital. Dearly loved husband of Doreen for 60 years. Loved brother of Marjorie Whitehead and family. A life lived with kindness, courageously fought to the end. A service will be held at the Romaleigh Funeral Home, 31 Ocean View Road, Northcote on Saturday 17 October at 1.30pm followed by a private cremation. All communications to Unit 103, Parklane Village, 106 Becroft Drive, Forrest Hill. H Morris Funeral Services
