Rosaline Agnes Crawshaw Rosaline Agnes Crawshaw was born on the 18.2.1878 at Cambridge, Waikato N Z. She died on the 29.4.1950 at Orewa, North of Auckland, age 72. She was the tenth child of James and Sarah Forrest. She married Reuben Crawshaw the eighth and last child of of John and Elizabeth Crawshaw at Cambridge on the 4.6.1902. Reuben worked for the New Zealand Railways as a Porter or a Guard early in their married life and because he got moved around various North Island railway towns their children were educated at various schools. Later the family purchased a dairy farm at Norton Road, Junction, Hamilton. They retired to Orewa, North of Auckland. Rosaline and Reuben are buried at the Anglican Church Cemetery, Warkworth. The five children of Reuben Crawshaw and Rosaline Agnes Forrest are: Louis Crawshaw born 23.4.1903. Died 1.3.1968. Married Joyce Litten 4.5.1948 Mavis Rosaline Crawshaw born 10.3.1906. Died 28.10.1971. age 64. Married Davie Burns Trotter 30.5.1934 James Crawshaw born 12.12.1909. Died 21.8.1982. Married Aileen Walton 12.2.1937 Lily Forrest Crawshaw born 10.11.1911. Died 22.8.1974. Married Fredrick Joseph Anderson 5.4.1933. Reubena Alexander Crawshaw, (Aunty Ruby) born 18.4.1919. Died 27.8.1987. Never married. |

The photo to the right was at Orewa about1939/40. The girl at the front was Margaret Thompson the daughter of Bill Thompson who was the Best Man at my parents wedding 30.5.1934. Margaret was the first playmate I can remember. A while later she just wasn't around any more and nothing was said. Many years later I found out she had drowned at Hadfields Beach just north of Orewa Beach. It seems in that era tragedy was dealt with cover up and not talking about it. |
